Advertising Answers - Nov 2, 2010

Question: How does advertising influence consumption?

Answer: It influences consumption a lot. The advertising only shows the good sides of the products. The people want to buy the stuff, because the advertisers don't show the bad sides of the products.

Question: Do you think citizens are sufficiently informed about the sustainability of our consumption habits? If not, how can we become more informed about sustainability issues?

Answer: No, because no one tells them about it. They just buy what they want and need.

Question: Do you think these advertising techniques influence what you and your friends purchase?
Answer: Yes, it does influence a lot. Whenever I see any cool advertising about an item, I want to buy it. It depends on how cool and good do I think about the item. The advertising are really important for the item when customers look at it.

Sustainable Development

Sustainable Development means reusable and never runs out.
Examples:
-Victoria-Gasteiz in Spain has development in major transport routes, so more people can live there, but they still save placers for wild lives and recreational areas for people.
-They made Eco-industrial parks in Kalundborg, Denmark, they use the waste of the power station and cement factory for other things to reuse.

Migration/Immigration Assessment - Final Copy

“Boom!,” that was the sound of my Math book after it fell to the ground. There were only five minutes before the class started. I was in 6th grade at AIS and it was nearly end of the school year. I was staring at Maria, my best friend. I heard her telling other people that she would be moving to the U.S. I was so shocked that I froze for five seconds.
“Are you really moving?” I started with a question, but my mouth couldn’t talk normal.
She nodded her head slowly. She explained that this country was making her to have push factors and America made her have pull factors. The push factors were lack of services, lack of safety, natural disasters, and persecution. There were traffic jams and accidents on the streets. There were so many rains and flooding everywhere. There were also storms. People also threw trash on the street. The pull factors were more wealth, good climate, better services, safe, less crime, and less natural disasters, better education, polite people. She said America was a rich country, they had lots of wealth, the climate was also good. Services were better than Vietnam and it was safety. I chat with her sometimes and I asked how is her life right now? She said there were also positive and negative effects. She said it was a shelter place, because there were many securities. But she was suffering from strain of school works, it was making her miserable. I think her life isn’t that bad, she lives in a rich family that a lot of things are affordable. She also said that she wanted to get into Harvard, that’s why she wanted to have a better education. She went there 2 years now, but I still miss her. The good thing is she comes back to her homeland every summer, I can hang out with her on those days.

Hearts Land

Hearts Land
The 5 Themes of Geography are place, region, location, movement, and human – environment interaction. The first one is place and I have two places on the map. They are in Diamonds Land and Stars Land. The Diamonds Land’s place named Diamond Castle, because there’ll a lot of diamonds in there. The other one is Sunny Castle and people can come to that place and look at the stars. People love going to those places.

Next one is region and the climate at here is hot for some places and some are cool. People all worship Hearts, because that’s how they had Hearts Land and Blood Ocean. It is also surround by ocean named Blood Ocean. The name sounds scary, but if you hear the meaning, it’s really meaningful (which is on the poster).

Location shows that Love (which is the capital of Hearts Land) is in North East of the map. Circular is also North East, Squarle is North West, SHINee is also North East, and Diamond is also North East. Most of the areas are in North East and they are in the right of the countries.

Movements are trading and weathering. People move to another place for trading. They trade hearts, diamonds, stars, circles, and squares to each other. They move because of weathering. There are places that are really hot and people have to move from place to place because they can’t live in those hot places. People usually choose cool places, and it is also near the cities or capitals.

Human adapt from the environment by the weather. As I explained above, the weather in some areas are hot, so people have to move. Most capitals are cold, but it’s better than hot areas. People don’t live there a lot and they like cool places.

What I learned from someone's culture and mine

I learned that Nguyen Trai is my great great great great grandfather. I was surprised by my dad. He took our family history book out and told me about my family and how we got killed for 3 generations and how we got saved. I was shocked about my own family. My grandfather was also a translator for the American War. I also saw a picture that he was standing with his American friend.
What I learned from others that Antonia's family are from Hue, I didn't know that because her Vietnamese isn't different than mine, there are 3 kinds of Vietnamese and I speak the South. I learned that Mickey's family has a lot of people. I learned Aeris's manga book is really cool and what her family likes. I also know that Lucky's father was in the Cambodian-Vietnamese war. I also learned David's brother loves tennis and Khai can throw those pins really cool. I also know that Conan has the same countryside as me. I'm glad to know these things from them.

A Place I've Been To

I've been to Seoul, South Korea. In the spring, there are a lot of flowers and it's really beautiful. In the summer, the climate is really hot, but the ocean was really cold. people like to be outdoors, because the winter will be cover over a lot of snow. So, it's really cold. When it comes to fall, it rains a lot. People don't usually swim in the beach, because it's usually cold . Lotte World is a big shopping center in Seoul. it also has an Ice Skate and people usually go there. Another one is  Cheonggyecheon, it is a waterfall that is nearly 6 km long. It is a man-made waterfall. On the two sides are the road and when you go down to the stairs, the waterfall is really beautiful at night.
